About the WVEPAH

The WVEPAH is the second branch of the “European Association for Veterinary Specialization” (EAVS), a non-profit organization registered in Luxembourg since 1989. EAVS promoted the transnational organization of Veterinary Specialization in Europe with the support of the European Union (EU). In 1992 it created the “European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies” (ESAVS) mainly addressing the companion animal area. ESAVS was supported by EU Education programs to develop the concept of veterinary specialization by offering high quality continuing education and as a recruitment platform for future specialists.

The ESAVS, has been very successful. Educational programs in 27 locations in Europe and 10 in China enrol more than 1 000 participants each year, coming from more than 50 countries. The ESAVS, affiliated with the University of Luxembourg, offers the European Certificate and European Master programs in the field of companion animal veterinary medicine.

Levels of expertise of professionals in poultry farming

Top level poultry experts are employed in various positions throughout the world, such as in the pharmaceutical and agro-food industries, as well as as veterinarians or poultry farming educators.

However, depending on each professional’s past work experience and educational background, the levels of expertise in the various aspects of this field may vary greatly.

While all professionals have their own individual strengths, in order to obtain the status of “expert”, they must meet the international standards required by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in each of the areas involved in the overall management of poultry production.

The table below summarizes the competencies of 120 participants from 22 countries, during previous WVEPAH-OIE courses. It shows their levels of competency in various areas of Poultry Farming, according to their job and day-to-day work.
