Dr. Hilde Van Meirhaeghe



Born in Ghent Belgium 1958, graduated in 1982 Doctor in veterinary Medicine at the University of Ghent.
Worked in several European and African Countries as a Veterinarian.
Since 1998 back Belgium, involved in poultry: layers and guinea fowl, breeding, meat production and hatchery for Derco International.

Joined DGZ-Flanders (Animal Health Services- Flanders) in 2007 as program officer for Poultry Health. Involved in study projects on hygiene, food safety and health issues, many in layers in alternative housing systems in partnership with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ghent and the Institute for Research in Agriculture and Fisheries ILVO.

Currently working as Poultry Consultant for Vetworks, a group of poultry veterinarians giving technical support to the pharmaceutical industry in poultry health worldwide.
Vetworks is partner in several research projects funded by European countries. Amongst them are European Commission funded EFFORT (reduction of antimicrobial resistance in poultry), and a project on defining innovative tools to grade gut health issues in poultry.
